Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
